If you are in need of extra food on the weekends, there is a program through the Weld County Food bank called the backpack program.  To sign up, call Jessica Gomez at the Welcome Center 348-6382.  Once you are signed up, the food will be brought to our office for the student to pick up at the end of the day on Fridays.

Welcome to Monfort Elementary

Success Foundation Bike Ride

"The journey is the reward." - Steve Jobs

Dear Families,

The year has started off very well at Monfort Elementary! It is great to see all students learning in every area of the building. Eighty-three kindergarten students are learning how to “play the game of kindergarten” with the help of staff, parents, and even a few of our 6th grade student leaders.

Students and staff are forming relationships and discussing what it means to be on “TRACK.” I am able to spend a lot of time in classrooms during these first few weeks as well! Each day I make it my goal to memorize 2-3 student names and hand out several on “TRACK” tickets in each homeroom.

The Monfort school family was fortunate to speak with the real Monfort family! Dick Monfort spent 30 minutes with the staff. He discussed the process of naming our school in 1980 and spoke about his family and the influence they had on education in our area. We learned about the packing plant, several feed yards, and of course the Colorado Rockies. We will have a forever friend behind the scenes with the Monfort family.

Our fluency and phonics testing is beginning and will continue through mid-September. We will use this data to provide targeted instruction in reading and writing each day. We are meeting as a team with our new instructional coach, Kimberly Reynolds, and each grade level team to cover this data as well as the results from our 2015-2016 standardized state testing scores. Individual student scores will be discussed during the fall parent teacher conferences.

Lastly, is parent communication throughout the year. We are setting up systems and working hard to use our school website for the bulk of our communication. However, we will continue to send Wednesday folders with students each week. Our goal is to make the Monfort website a place where parents can access school information on any device, at any time. Hopefully, this will eliminate lost papers  and other school information. Thank you ahead of time as we work to go paperless!

I am proud to serve you and your children!

Monfort Families,

It is so great to have our students back in the halls of Monfort Elementary!  There is so much Trailblazer pride and on “TRACK” behavior from students, staff and parents already this year.  I wanted to let you know at little bit about our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at Monfort.  As a school community we work on being on “TRACK” Trailblazers.  This means your students are learning what Trustworthy, Respectful, Achieving, Cooperative, and Kind look like in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, and playground.  Staff recognize students who are on “TRACK” by writing Pride Paw Tickets and Scout Slips.  We encourage families to carry on “TRACK” skills outside the classroom!

At Monfort a huge goal is to recognize positive on “TRACK” behaviors.  Each quarter we focus on a particular skill at an all-school assembly: 1st-Trustworthy, 2nd-Respectful, 3rd-Achieving, and 4th-Cooperative and Kind.  At these assemblies, Trailblazers who are consistently demonstrating that particular skill are recognized with a special award, along with academic growth awards in most subject areas.

Monfort is the place to be in Greeley!  Our year together is off to a fantastic start.
